Job Title: Entry-level career track to Supervisor of Manufacturing
Reports to: Associate or Sr. Director of Manufacturing
Job Summary: Directs and coordinates the activities of personnel engaged in the production of solid dosage pharmaceutical products.
Final Responsibilities at end of training:
- Oversees the utilization of production equipment/instrumentation to manufacture/process drug products in accordance with the Code of Federal Regulations, company policies and procedures, and safety codes.
- Promote the maintenance of a safe, accident free work environment. Devise, manage, and coordinate training programs or media, which will increase proficiency in safe practices and promote safety consciousness. Be familiar with Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) on area chemicals and ensure familiarity of employees with MSDS use.
- Represents Manufacturing at daily Scheduling Meeting, reports previous day's activity results. Ensures that the schedule for the new day is supportable. Ensures execution of the manufacturing schedule via good analysis of resources needed, allocating available resources through the supervisors, monitoring shop floor activity, and coordinating the necessary resources to promptly resolve any problem, which jeopardizes the schedule.
- Ensure change control procedures are followed; write and submit CRB requests for new/modified processes and equipment.
- Ensure maintenance of all written logs and records as required by cGMP and departmental SOPs to ensure compliance.
- Report on departmental performance, e.g., health, safety, and environmental issues, project status, employee training and productivity metrics.
- Coordinate preventive maintenance and calibration activities/requirements to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays.
- Review production data to monitor department quality, productivity, and yields, proactively looking for process improvements.
- Monitors need for major cleans, preventative maintenance and calibration to ensure that these are taken into account when the manufacturing schedule is developed and reviewed.
- Will require training as a Manufacturing Technician to develop hands-on experience.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree (Chemical Engineering, Pharmaceutical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering in order of preference) and a minimum of 3 months of coop or intern experience in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical diagnostics, medical device or medical prosthetics manufacturing; no supervisory experience required but aptitude and desire for management
- Strong managerial and people abilities
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
