Job Title:  Engineer/Sr. Engineer - Continuous Improvement

Purpose:

The Continuous Improvement Engineer is responsible for managing business improvement projects and act as a change agent using technical, Lean, and Six Sigma tools to deliver breakthrough improvement in operational cost, quality and performance.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Serves as the Lean/Six Sigma technical content expert; Help achieve a strong business culture of Continuous Improvement.
  • Educate and coach employees to in the application of Lean/Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Design, develop, test, and evaluate integrated production systems in manufacturing including production processes, human work factors, quality control, inventory control, logistics and material flow, cost analysis, and production control.
  • Apply work measurements and methods analysis techniques and develop capacity management tools.
  • Design plant layout to attain manufacturing capacity requirement while improving efficiency and throughput.
  • Develop manufacturing methods, work standardization, labor standards, and cost analysis systems and implement metrics to promote efficient staff and facility utilization.
  • Design, develop and propose improvements to equipment and systems using knowledge of engineering principles, industry standards and working design to meet production requirements, performance, quality, and safety standards.
  • Employ six sigma tools and scientific and statistical expertise to perform root cause and correlation analysis to identify and develop corrective actions for solving product and process failures.
  • Identify and manage continuous improvement project resources, requirements, and constraints to ensure that improvement projects meet the specified scope, are on schedule, and within the authorized budget, to ensure key success factors, priorities and fiscal expectations are accomplished.
  • Communicate professionally in written, oral, and presentation form, project progress regarding formal milestones, issues and benefit realizations to ensure management’s understanding of project status.
  • Facilitate cross-functional project teams that are focused on key success factors
  • Develop internal training programs including Lean/Kaizen, and Six Sigma and train, coach and mentor all levels of the organization, from entry-level to management in continuous improvement techniques and promote lean and six sigma methodologies across the organization

 

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical field with three years plus of progressive Continuous Improvement experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in the medical device industry. 
  • Proficiency with Lean/Six Sigma tools and methodologies, including DMAIC, Kaizen, 5S, SMED, SPC, Value Stream Mapping and Visual Factory, acquired through formal training and/or direct work experience.
  • Demonstrated analytical skills.
  • Strong knowledge in all aspects of project management including but not limited to requirements gathering, analysis design, planning, testing, documentation, and production implementation.
  • Strong demonstrated team leadership and relationship skills.
  • Excellent verbal & written communication skills; strong interpersonal and influencing skills.

Skills/Aptitudes: 

Knowledge of ERP Systems, Proficient with Microsoft Vision, Excel, Word, Powerpoint, Access and Outlook
