Cal Poly Society of Women Engineers Honors IME Students

Three Industrial and Manufacturing students were among the five Outstanding Women in Engineering and Technology winners selected for 2010 by the Cal Poly Society of Women Engineers (SWE).

PolyGAIT busy in 2010

As Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technologies become increasingly popular enablers of process improvement, inventory tracking and supply chain management, the frequency of activity at PolyGAIT - the Cal Poly Center for Global Automatic Identification Technologies - is growing.

Kurt Colvin’s Boeing Adventure

After spending his summer as a Boeing Welliver Faculty Fellow and meeting with more than 200 Boeing engineers and managers, some of whom were Cal Poly alumni, industrial and manufacturing engineering professor Kurt Colvin observed, "Nobody in the world can do what Boeing can do."

Brown Trafton (IME 2004) selected for Cal Poly Hall of Fame

Stephanie Brown Trafton has hurled her way into the Cal Poly Athletic Hall of Fame. The 2004 Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering grad who became the first Olympic gold medalist in Cal Poly history when she won the women's discus at the 2008 Summer Games in Beijing, was named to the Hall of Fame in October.

Cal Poly Engineering Alumnus Named California Fire Chief of the Year

Douglas A. Williams began his career in fire protection as an Explorer Scout in high school and worked as a firefighter while earning his degree in industrial engineering at Cal Poly.
