What Will I Learn?
College is about learning, no matter what your major.
The dorms, the Performing Arts Center, the sports facilities and rec center, the student union, the library, even the lawns provide opportunities to learn something new.
Courses in the Industrial Engineering and Manufacturing Engineering majors cover a broad range of topics and knowledge.
With their unique skills, Industrial and Manufacturing Engineers are involved in student clubs all over campus - they have helped design and build
- the Baja Race Car,
- the SAE Formula Car,
- the NASA Regolith Robot,
- the E-Spin Bicycle-Powered Electric Generator,
- the Cubesat Satellite Launcher,
- the Supermileage Vehicle, RFID Projects, and more.
Actual work experience - i.e., summer internships or c-ops - is a way of life for Industrial and Manufacturing Engineers at Cal Poly. Recent summer jobs and co-ops for our students have included
- Solar Turbines in San Diego,
- Alcon in Irvine,
- Toyota in Long Beach,
- NUMMI in Fremont (East Bay),
- Boeing in Seattle,
- Raytheon in El Segundo (LA Area), and many others.
- Disneyland. Well, you probably already know where that is.
