Dr. Daniel Waldorf - Department Chair & Faculty
Biography
Dr. Daniel Waldorf (PhD, PE), Professor in Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering (IME), joined the Cal Poly faculty in 1998 after two years in Chicago as a Quality/ Manufacturing Engineer at ATF, Inc., a supplier of specialty cold-formed and machined components for automotive applications. At ATF he implemented process control technologies, taught and instituted quality control systems, and designed experiments in a traditional manufacturing environment. He received his Ph.D. in industrial engineering in 1996 from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Dr. Waldorf has taught and developed courses in manufacturing process design, computer-aided manufacturing, tool engineering, quality engineering, metrology, and reliability. He has participated in numerous activities related to the improvement of teaching methods, teaching assessment, and curriculum design. Dr. Waldorf was elected Chair of the IME Department in 2016.
