Mr. Jack Maughan
Lecturer
Biography
I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering from Cal Poly in 2020 and have spent my career working at the intersection of hands-on fabrication and applied engineering. For five years, I worked as a part-time consultant designing and building housings for oceanographic research instruments, where I gained experience in precision manufacturing and creating components built to withstand extreme environments. I spent two years as a residential metal designer and fabricator, creating custom architectural metalwork with a focus on both aesthetics and functionality. I’m now a full-time lecturer at Cal Poly, where I teach and mentor students in metal fabrication and industrial automation, sharing the skills and insights I’ve developed throughout my hands-on experience.
