Biography

Dr. Leonardo Wei earned his Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering from Texas Tech University, with a research focus on biomechanics. Prior to his doctoral studies, he earned a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro in 2020, as well as an associate degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Federal Center for Technological Education in Brazil in 2013. During his undergraduate studies, he was a member of the robotics team, where he participated in international competitions, including the BattleBots.

Research Interests

Dr. Wei’s research program focuses on human-centered design, movement biomechanics, musculoskeletal modeling of human–machine interactions, and applied ergonomics to understand the complex mechanisms of muscle fatigue progression and musculoskeletal injuries in occupational and daily life tasks. His work integrates both computational modeling and experimental biomechanics to understand the effects of emerging technologies and task demands on human performance, with the goal of improving the ergonomic design of protective equipment and enhancing musculoskeletal health.
